Does every bill receive a committee hearing?

Except for a few technical bills, every bill must receive a public hearing.

Is there a way to be notified when a particular bill will be heard by a committee?

Committee records can be obtained from a legislative history. Requests for legislative histories should be directed to:

You can research a current or past bill by using the search bill feature.
The BillTracker service notifies users when committee take action on their bills of interest.

How long does a committee have to act on a bill?

A committee may act on a bill at any time during a session once it has been referred the bill and a public hearing has been held.

Are committee hearings open to the public?

Yes. Furthermore, anyone can testify at committee hearings.

How do I go about speaking on a bill in committee?
