Required Skills

Associate degree or equivalent vocational technical training in computer science, data processing operations, information technology, information management systems, or network. Relevant work experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.
At least two years of experience installing and using software applications, operating data processing systems, or instructing others in the use of applications or systems.
Knowledge of customer service and support practices, methods, concepts, and standards.
Knowledge of methods for troubleshooting, recovering, adjusting, modifying, and improving information technology systems.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including technical information and documentation of operational procedures and problem resolutions.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with senators, legislative staff, stakeholders, and the public.
Ability to work independently, organize and manage work, and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to produce quality work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment. Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule including working nights and weekends.

Description

Under the general supervision of the Legislative Technology Center (LTC) Help Desk/Lead, provides technical and informational assistance and guidance to customers/end-users. This work includes diagnosing hardware, software, and website problems and guiding users in resolving their problems. Performs related work as assigned.


Examples of Work

Provides user technical support for legislative computer systems, either in-person or remotely.
Supports senators on the floor while in session.
Documents the nature, status, and other details of user requests and problem resolutions in the LTC ticketing system.
Analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs hardware and software problems using established support procedures and remote diagnostic and control utilities.
Works with other LTC teams and vendors to establish and document support procedures.
Assists other LTC teams in analyzing potential implications of using new hardware or applications.

Other duties and responsibilities may include:
Reviews and documents hardware inventory.
Maintains and updates software.
Resets passwords and enforces security procedures to ensure system access and data integrity.
Researches and supports printer issues.
Enforces compliance with security policies and other standards.
Works with vendors to report and resolve issues.
Researches, evaluates, and provides feedback on problems, trends, and patterns in customer support requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.


Extra Information

Proficient in Windows 11, Active Directory, Google Workspace. Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
