    Money approved to settle claims is paid out of Risk Management's Tort Claim fund, if applicable. Some claims are paid by individual agencies andor the Legislature provides the necessary spending authority.

Accomplishments
  • Since July 1, 2020:
    The Board has settled, approved, and denied hundreds of claims filed against the State of Nebraska. Nearly 500 claims were heard by the Board between 2020 and 2024. At times, the Board has been able to prevent claims from going to litigation and provided prompt payment of claims for which the State was liable.
