Accomplishments
  • Since July 1, 2020:
    These accomplishments are provided by the Department of Health and Human Services and reflects its sole views. In 2022, the MMRC was awarded funding through the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) Enhancing Reviews and Surveillance to Eliminate Maternal Mortality (ERASE MM) cooperative agreement.In 2023, a full-time abstractor was hired to support the MMRC. This has increased the ability of the team to accomplish timely case abstraction. The average time from case identification to completed case abstraction decreased from 15 months to 11 months. Due to having cases abstracted in a timely manner, the committee is consistently able to review 100% of cases within 24 months of death. The committee has grown to 19 members in 2024, allowing for membership that represents the population of the state of Nebraska. Additionally, the committee now includes a variety of clinical and non-clinical maternal health stakeholders which allows for multi-disciplinary case reviews. The MMRC has published Maternal Mortality reports in 2021, 2023, and 2024, and published a Severe Maternal Morbidity Report in 2024.
