The director shall serve as an ex officio member.

    The Board may assess reinsuring carriers for organizational and operating expenses. The Board may also borrow money.

    Yes, the board can enter into contracts and has the general powers and authority granted under Nebraska law to insurance companies and HMOs licensed to transact business but cannot issue health plans directly to groups or individuals.
Accomplishments
  • Since July 1, 2012:
    Because of the adoption of the ACA, this reinsurance program is no longer being utilized. In June of 2016 the Board voted to recommend its own elimination.
