Potential HarmLPNs are trained to provide more basic medical and nursing care and are responsible for the comfort of a patient. Grave harm to the public would occur if LPNs were not licensed or regulated. Potential harm includes incompetent care due to lack of standardized training and education, an increased risk of nursing errors, patient safety issues, inability to hold nurses accountable for poor practice, a decrease in public trust in healthcare, and a potential for unqualified individuals practicing nursing, leading to serious injuries or death.
