Potential HarmWhile there would be no harm to the public if this occupation were removed from statute, the benefits to rural health care access would be eliminated before they were even allowed to be realized. Critical Care Paramedics provide a higher level of care for complex patients at an emergency scene and during transport. This is especially important in rural areas of the state where patients may need a higher level of care, which may be in a specialized unit hours away from the patient’s community. Patients in this scenario may require more advanced care than what is currently included in a typical paramedic’s scope of practice, or within their education, training, and experience.
