Purpose:The temporary license designation for critical care paramedics was created to allow providers a means to begin working while finishing national testing certifications. Critical care paramedics provide frontline response to emergencies, delivering intensive medical treatment to critically ill or injured patients at the scene and during transport.

Potential HarmDue to changes in testing availability, technology, and application processing, this licensure level no longer serves a need, as individuals may obtain full Critical Care Paramedic license within the time frame it takes to get a Temporary Critical Care Paramedic license. No public harm will be realized with elimination of this license designation.
