Explanation of Effectiveness:https://nebraskalegislature.gov/pdf/SurveyDocs/explanation1725388257.pdf
Potential HarmThe public could experience harm if veterinarians are not regulated. Having minimum standards for education and examinations to assess a practitioner’s competency reduce the potential for harm to the public. Veterinarians prevent and treat zoonotic diseases which can affect both animals and people for example rabies and avian flu. They prevent and treat diseases in animals used as food by both animals and humans which helps ensure the safety of the food chain. As a result, they play an important role in environmental protection, research, food safety, and public health.
