Government Certificates Issued:116
Issued Certificate Descriptions:DHHS' licensing system was unfortunately not designed to query by individual license type for a specified period of time and would require additional programming to narrow the data for this request. The number reported reflects those issued since inception. The department may, with the approval of the board, grant a temporary license in the practice of anesthesia for up to 120 days upon application (a) to graduates of an accredited school of nurse anesthesia pending results of the first certifying examination following graduation and (b) to registered nurse anesthetists currently licensed in another state pending completion of the application for a Nebraska license. A temporary license issued pursuant to this subsection may be extended at the discretion of the board with the approval of the department. An applicant for a license to practice as a certified registered nurse anesthetist who is a military spouse may apply for a temporary license as provided in Neb. Rev. Stat. § 38-129.01. Anesthesia is defined as the performance and assistance with any act involving the determination, preparation, administration, or monitoring of any drug used to render a person insensible to pain for procedures requiring the presence of persons educated in administering anesthetics, or the performance of an act commonly the responsibility of educated anesthesia personnel.

Explanation of Effectiveness:https://nebraskalegislature.gov/pdf/SurveyDocs/explanation1724447827.pdf
Potential HarmAPRN-CRNAs provide anesthesia services and pain control management across the entire state, particularly in critical care access hospitals, but also in larger institutions. If this occupation is no longer regulated, the state would lose a large group of specialized providers of anesthesia services and pain management services which would limit the public’s ability to access this type of care.
