The appointed members include: one representative of each medical school located in the state involved in training family physicians, one physician in family practice residency training, one rural physician, one rural consumer representative, one rural hospital administrator, one rural nursing home administrator, one rural nurse, one rural physician assistant, one rural mental health practitioner or psychologist, and one rural dentist.

Other Funding Sources:Rural Health Professional Incentive Fund
Spending Authority:Neb. Rev. Stat. 71-5661 establishes the Rural Health Professional Incentive Fund and provides that funds may be used for the purposes of the Act. Cash spending authority is derived from the mainline appropriations bill.

Accomplishments

Since July 1, 2020:These accomplishments are provided by the Department of Health and Human Services and reflects its sole views. The Rural Health Advisory Commission has reviewed and approved health professionals applications for the student loan repayment program. These professionals have served in Rural Health Clinics, Critical Access Hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, Private Practice Sites, and Behavioral Health Clinics in 62 of Nebraskas 93 counties, with an estimated financial impact of over $300 million to rural Nebraska communities (by adding health care providers) between FY 2020-2023.
