Accomplishments

Since July 1, 2020:These accomplishments are provided by the Department of Health and Human Services and reflect its sole views. Throughout 2024, Alzheimers Disease and Other Dementia Advisory Council has been working to create a State Alzheimers Plan to provide legislators and the Governor with a brief background on dementia, the impact of the disease on individuals who have been diagnosed, their families, the health care system in Nebraska, and other topics outlined in statute. The Plan identifies challenges, such as public awareness of brain health, the lack of adequate staffing of medical and non-medical care providers, and the availability of resources and assistance in rural communities, and makes recommendations to address them. The Council will provide the report to the Legislature in the first quarter of 2025. They will begin delving into these issues throughout 2025 and will provide status reports to the Legislature and Governor annually.
