Purpose:The Nebraska Worker Training Board oversees portions of the Nebraska Worker Training and Support Cash Fund to support public and private job training programs, recruit workers to Nebraska, train new employees of expanding Nebraska businesses, and retain existing employees of Nebraska businesses. In furtherance of these purposes, the Board prepares an annual program plan for each fiscal year which contains guidelines for the programs financed by the Worker Training and Support Cash Fund.

Accomplishments

Since July 1, 2020:Since July 1, 2020, the Nebraska Worker Training Board has awarded 289 separate grants with a total award amount of $2,802,644 in the support of public and private job training programs and for the retention and recruitment of workers to Nebraska. The Nebraska Worker Training Program annual report and program guidelines are available online at https:dol.nebraska.gov. The Worker Training Board also contributed to the distribution of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 (ARPA) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These ARPA funds provided recruitment and retention grant awards to educators and healthcare workers as well as providing workforce development grants for the funding of projects intended to offer employment-related services for individuals suffering adverse economic effects from the pandemic.
