Purpose:Advise the State Fire Marshal on:(1) engineering authorities and organizations concerned with standard safety codes;(2) rules and regulations governing the operation, maintenance, servicing, construction, alteration, installation, and inspection of conveyances;(3) qualifications for licensure as an elevator mechanic or elevator contractor and conditions for disciplinary actions, including suspension or revocation of a license;(4) rules and regulations for temporary and emergency elevator mechanic thirty-day licenses;(5) an enforcement program which will ensure compliance with the Conveyance Safety Act and the rules and regulations adopted and promulgated pursuant to the act. ; and(6) variances, continuing education providers, and license disciplinary actions

Accomplishments

Since July 1, 2016:Updated Codes adopted to reflect newest, most modern Codes for the installation, design, construction, and inspection of conveyances and elevators;Provided valuable input to the Commissioner of Labor, and to the State Fire Marshal when the Program was statutorily transferred from the Department of Labor to the State Fire Marshal Agency in July of 2019.
