Purpose:To protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Duties include, but are not limited to: setting the minimum standards of proficiency and competency including the approval of courses of study for CEU credits; providing recommendations regarding reinstatement of licenses; providing recommendations related to the issuance or denial of licenses, disciplinary action, and changes in legislation; providing the Department with recommendations on regulations to carry out the Act and the Uniform Credentialing Act; setting construction standards for water wells; setting fees; and approving regulations.

Accomplishments

Since July 1, 2012:The Board reviewed and approved 1511 hours of continuing education; Worked with the Department on Title 178 Chapter 11 revisions to clarify well registration fees;Worked with the Department on Title 178 Chapter 12 revisions to incorporate information that was learned from the Nebraska Grout Task Force clear cased research project for the enhancement of public health and ground water protection.The Department received a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust to conduct research to identify best management practices for irrigation well reconstruction and decommissioning water wells in controlled management areas where nitrates are a concern. The Board approved partial funding towards the research this project; andBoard worked closely with the Department and revised nineteen examinations for licensure, each examination was graded and evaluated with the assistance of a psychometrician.
