Accomplishments

Since July 1, 2012:Since July 1, 2012: The producer investment through the 10 cent per cwt check-off is utilized to increase dairy product sales through promotion, education, and research. A major accomplishment is the Fuel Up to Play 60 program in which Nebraska was the lead state in rolling out this program to empower youth, schools and communities to stay healthy. This program is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council and NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to help encourage todays youth to lead healthier lives. Funds are also used to conduct research projects in cooperation with other mid-west states. An accomplishment in this area related to how milk is processed, resulted in an extended shelf life of milk. Promotional advertising projects are also funded to increase consumer awareness of the health and nutritional value of consuming milk and milk products in ones diet.
