Building Links Throughout the school year, lawmakers across the nation will participate in the America's Legislators Back to School Program, sponsored by the National Conference of State Legislatures. Since the program's inception in 2000, Nebraska senators have brought the program to more than 38,000 students across the state.
State government has a significant impact on the lives of citizens of all ages. The complex policy choices that are decided within state legislatures will affect students as they grow into adulthood and throughout their lives. State legislators from across the nation are willing to do their part in helping educate students about their state government.
In Nebraska, school visits are scheduled by legislators and their staff. If you are a teacher or administrator and are interested in having a Nebraska senator visit your classroom during America's Legislators Back to School Program, contact your
state legislator to schedule a visit. Likewise, if you are planning a field trip to the State Capitol, you might ask if your senator available to visit with your students while you are here.
Capitol Building tours can be scheduled through the Tours Office at (402) 471-0448.
