Background on ARRA
ARRA was passed by Congress as HR1 and signed into law by President Obama on February 17, 2009. ARRA is a federal economic stimulus package designed, in part, to mitigate the effects of the recession on state and local governments.
A copy of ARRA can be found at:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the_press_office/ARRA_public_review/ARRA contains funding totaling nearly $787 billion. Of that amount, more than $300 billion is dedicated to states and state-related programs. ARRA establishes a broad framework of mechanisms that states will use to access those federal funds.
The Legislature is working to ascertain exactly what types of and how much funding Nebraska will receive. These web pages will enable you to see information about the process as it unfolds and will allow you to track how those funds are being used in Nebraska.
